Changes in the newly passed National Defense Authorization Act, signed by President Trump on Dec. 12, 2017 will affect those who receive drones as gifts this holiday season. According to new regulations in the NDAA, all drone owners now are required to register their unmanned aircraft systems with the Federal Aviation Administration. This reinstates a requirement that the FAA had tried to impose in 2015, but which had been thrown out by a federal court as exceeding the authority then provided by Congress.
